The songs are almost all originals - many written in lockdown over the past year or so - songs about legends, and about separation, ambition, fears and dreams.

There are three songs that explore legends:
The Bisley Boy is about the young Elizabeth I dying when In Gloucestershire, and being replaced by a local boy as there were no girls who looked like her!
Bram Stoker was fascinated and wrote about this story;
"...Good Queen Bess of England could have been a Bisley Boy...."

Song of The Severn about the River Severn, touching on the legend of Sabrina, the goddess of the river;
"Let your soul roll with the river
Deep in her water you'll be carried along....."
And The Green Isle, a song with a lovely traditional tune and new words by poet Alison Brackenbury about the magical island off The Western Isles of Scotland; and also about Beira, the fearsomely bleak Queen of Winter, and the mother of all the gods and goddesses of Scotland.

In The Heart of the War - is a tribute to the men and women of the SOE (Special Operations Executive) working in France during World War II - many of whom gave their lives.
"Running in and out of the shadows
Here in the heart of the war....."
Let's Find A Way is a lockdown song;
Break Free, A Thousand Miles Away, First Light, and Dreams are songs about separation, ambition, fears and dreams.

Long Summer is a new setting of a poem by Laurie Lee with wonderful piano from John Broomhall;

Plus there are two covers:
When The Master Calls The Roll, via Rosanne Cash, a moving story about a couple caught up in the American Civil War, and "preserving the union";
and The Greenway - a song by Stroud singer-songwriter Jehanne Mehta.

The fine musicians playing on the album are Paul Burgess (Old Swan Band, ex-John Kirkpatrick Band) on fiddle and recorder; Dik Cadbury (Julie July Band, ex-Decameron, ex-Steve Hackett) on backing vocals; Geoff March (ex-Decameron) on cello; John Broomhall on piano and organ; Mick Candler (Kevin Brown, Julie July Band) on drums; Gareth Sampson on bass guitar; and Ben Church (ex-Wooden Horse duo) on dobro adding a touch of Americana. Produced by Johnny Coppin and David Pickering Pick, with album cover images by Martin Fry. and album cover design by John Neilson.

CDs are £14 inc P & P (£17 for European mainland / £19 for rest of the world)
